The Health and Public Services Guided Pathway Division includes programs for students who are interested in careers dedicated to the well-being and in the service of others. Students will thrive in their field with knowledge of assessments, procedures, and human relations. Majors in this field will put students on a path to enter a career in healthcare, wellness, or the criminal justice system.
The Administration of Justice program provides students with the ability to apply principles of the justice system, constitutional and procedural considerations affecting arrest, search and seizure, human relations, and concepts of criminal law as well as demonstrate proficiency in report writing and record keeping. Students completing this program will be prepared to transfer and major in criminal justice.
VIEW THIS PROGRAMThese courses emphasize lifelong understanding and the development of a student's physiological, psychological, and social well-being. Students transferring to a four-year university will have a basic foundation for further studies in areas such as physical education, recreation, nutrition, or allied health fields. This emphasis may be useful for students interested in possible career paths in athletic training, personal training, management, exercise science, sports nutrition, and education.
VIEW THIS PROGRAMCompton College offers a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approved Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. Students are provided with skills needed to enter the nursing profession in a variety of health care settings as an entry-level registered nurse. The Compton College ADN program consist of 4-semester; successful completion of the program allows the graduate to sit for the State of California National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) examination.
VIEW THIS PROGRAMThis certified nursing assistant eight-week course prepares the student for an entry level health care worker position in the long-term care skilled nursing facility. Upon successful completion of the course, the student is eligible to sit for the State of California Certified Nursing Assistant certification examination. Certified Nursing Assistants enter at the first level of the nursing career ladder and report directly to the Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse.
VIEW THIS PROGRAMThe kinesiology program provides a foundation for the study of diverse dimensions of exercise science, sport, and movement studies. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to transfer and major in kinesiology.
